DARE #40 — Purify Your Motive
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8
We often think purity is about behavior.
Jesus says it’s about motive.

The word pure in this verse comes from the Greek word katharos — meaning clean, unmixed, undivided. It’s the same root used for refining metal until no foreign substance remains. Not polished on the outside. Refined at the core.

To be “pure in heart” is not to be perfect.
It is to be undivided.
It is to stop doing the right thing for the wrong reason.
To stop striving to be seen.
To stop serving to be validated.
To stop speaking to be applauded.
It is to ask the brave question:
Why am I doing this?
Am I loving… or performing?
Am I serving… or competing?
Am I helping… or needing control?
Am I sharing truth… or seeking influence?

When motive becomes clean, vision becomes clear.
Jesus didn’t say the pure in heart will “feel God.”
He said they will see Him.
Clarity comes when hidden striving is removed.
Distraction fades.
Comparison dissolves.
Ambition quiets.
And suddenly, God is easier to recognize.
The promise is astonishing:
Purity produces perception.
Not because God was absent before —
but because mixed motives blur spiritual sight.

Today’s Dare is not about doing more.
It’s about filtering why you’re doing what you’re doing.
Because what you crave determines who you become.
And what you purify determines what you can see.
Vision sharpens when motive is clean.
